Originally from Detroit and now based in New York, x3butterfly (Sorrelle McGill) began their artistic career as an experimental performance artist while studying at the California Institute of the Arts. After moving to Berlin in 2016, they transitioned into DJing, where appearances on HÖR Berlin helped establish them as a rising force in underground electronic music. Their sets draw from Detroit techno, UK club culture, industrial, jungle, dubstep, drum & bass, house, Latin rhythms, and experimental sounds, often moving between 140–160 BPM while maintaining a strong sense of narrative.
Since relocating to New York, x3butterfly has become a resident at Nowadays and a regular at clubs like BASEMENT, Bossa Nova Civic Club, and H0L0. Beyond DJing, they’re a multidisciplinary artist, model, and advocate for queer nightlife whose work explores identity, movement, and experimental sound design. Whether playing a warehouse at sunrise or an international festival, every set feels adventurous, emotional, and impossible to predict.
